About Us

Our history

Founded in 1987, Hare & Humphreys has evolved into one of Britain’s leading specialists in the painting, gilding, conservation and decoration of historic and contemporary buildings. From 2001, to the end of her reign, we were honoured to be granted a Royal Warrant as decorators and gilders by appointment to HM the Queen. The Royal Warrant was awarded for work that we completed on the restoration and decoration of Windsor Castle.

Our team

Our team is a blend of international professionals who combine extensive experience across the arts, decoration and conservation sectors. Their infectious enthusiasm for the excellence of their craft, underpins the quality we deliver to our customers. They enjoy what they do and it shows!

Our Office

As a vital element of our vision for the future we completed the move into our new offices at 15, Young Street in September 2025.

The facilities provide modern office space for our growing team coupled with business meeting rooms and break-out space as well as a small canteen area.

After nearly 40 fantastic years in our Kelso Place offices we are excited about our prospects for growth in 2026 and look forward to welcoming our clients and customers to come and enjoy our new facilities with us.

Our future

2025 has begun with the appointment of new management with a dynamic vision and mandate to expand opportunities in the conservation & heritage sector as well as generate controlled growth whilst fully respecting and retaining the traditions and ethics of the company. Hare & Humphreys new MD Thomas Wallerand states that “our founding principles of quality, fairness, integrity and a warm customer focussed service will remain implicit in all that we do as we grow our business, and our people without compromising customer satisfaction.”

Our logo

This new heraldic design has been chosen to respect the history of our crafts some of which, are depicted in the shield.

The inscription “PRORSUM IN FUTURUM” meaning forward to the future, reflects our expressed vision, plan and ethos.

Mounted within our corporate green livery, the whole is in gold leaf, acknowledging just one of our key skills.
